The Cannes Young Lions competition highlights the innovative minds and diverse perspectives of young creatives all over the world.
This year, Senior Consultant Bartosz Jurczyk and Video Assistant Martyna Harasimowicz from Havas Media Group Poland are set to compete in the media category at the global competition taking place this week.
Finish this sentence: Creativity is… a question.
How did you two decide to partner up for the Young Lions Competition?
We both wanted to take part in the competition, but we didn’t have a partner. Eventually, we were recommended to one another by a dear colleague, and we decided to give it a try – that’s how it all started.
Tell us a little bit about the assignment. Why do you think you won?
We had 24h to come up with a strategy for a Polish NGO “Panoptykon”. It’s an organisation that monitors state agencies and corporations that collect massive amounts of data. Our main aim was to encourage people to donate 1% of their tax to this organisation.
Additionally, we were asked to raise awareness about the importance of their actions.
The key was to decide on only one main idea and focus on it. It’s tempting to show everything you have developed, but that’s not the way. A clear message is more important than showing off with a variety of ideas.
The competition is more about a big idea, a concept, rather than about a detailed media plan. It gives more freedom to propose non-standard solutions.
How did you feel when you heard you won and will be representing Poland in Cannes for the Young Lions competition?
Surprised and excited. It’s our first time in Young Lions and we are happy to be a part of this competition.
What excites you most about heading to Cannes?
The number of creative minds per square metre. We are looking forward to hearing the stories and inspirational talks.
