Less than a year after the launch of Havas CX Italy, the organisation continued its rapid growth by acquiring Nohup – a leading Italian agency for cloud services and digital transformation processes – in 2021, a move that bolsters its customer experience offerings not just for the Italian market but Havas clients worldwide.
We spoke with Manfredi Calabrò, Maria Aiello, and Riccardo Fabbri at Nohup to hear more about their agency and experience at Havas thus far.

Can you give us a bit of a background on your organisation? What’s your elevator pitch?

Nohup is a digital consultancy agency founded in 2004 to help and support customers in their digital transformation and cloud empowerment journey. We’re able to do this thanks to our wealth of experience that we’ve developed through almost 18 years of successful projects as well as our highly skilled and experienced team. We support our customers in developing new cloud-native software, integrating and modernising existing legacy software, and architecting modern and secure infrastructures to leverage the most modern technologies available on the market.

We started to operate as a small independent agency delivering innovative services to the digital communication industry with passion and competence.  Our claim “in {code} we trust” is clear evidence of our “geeky” DNA. This strong identity combined with our passion and competence brought us 18 years of growth and success – for two years in a row (2021 and 2022), for example, The Financial Times has identified Nohup as a leader in Europe in its FT 1000: Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies initiative.

Why was Havas Group the right fit for Nohup?

Thanks to the vision we share with Havas and the deep synergy between our people, we believe that Havas is the perfect partner to build together a more competitive and distinctive presence in the local and global market to become a unique reference point for the industry – we truly believe that what we do together is more meaningful than anything we can accomplish on our own.

Nohup and Havas had already been partners for many years on several projects, allowing the two teams to share experiences and create common ground for deeper and more comprehensive cooperation.

In an extremely fluid market, where Nohup has drawn the interest of many companies and international groups in the last few years, people were the defining factor that led us to start this new chapter at Havas Group.

How does this partnership complement both parties?

This partnership expands the Group’s customer experience offering and allows us to collaborate across the entire market. Our specialistic expertise in modern application development, data management and cloud technologies helps Havas have a stronger stake in the market for innovation – and the impressive portfolio of Havas Group enables Nohup’s offering in a much wider market.

Furthermore, we believe that the cooperation and the collaboration between so many people in the Havas Villages provides a unique opportunity to grow our team.

Can you talk about some of your major successes since you became part of Havas Group?

We immediately started standardising our development processes and integrating our CX offerings to create upselling and cross-selling opportunities for our existing customers.

Sharing skills with the whole Group has already allowed us to collaborate with other agencies outside Italy. Our major success is with the client Petronas International, where we are managing the entire Cloud infrastructure with Havas CX Italy and Ekino Vietnam. We have also started partnering with other companies in the Village (e.g., Havas Media and Havas Events) to enhance many projects and initiatives with our technology – but this is just the beginning!

What are you most looking forward to about being a part of Havas Group in the future? What are your goals over the next 18 months?

Innovation. Innovation. Innovation. In this constantly changing landscape, we firmly believe that it is essential to face the challenges ahead by constantly innovating.

We strongly believe that bringing Creative Technology into our projects can truly increase the meaningfulness of the messages we deliver to our customers.

How do you see the future of CX evolving? Any particular trends or insights we should keep an eye on?

Change is driven, even unconsciously, by consumers.

This is why we need to continue investing in the Metaverse concept and in all those technologies that can offer customers an immersive, fully sensorial and inclusive experience. All these technologies (the Metaverse, VR, and AR to name a few) are just getting off the ground, and the applications are already almost unlimited.

As in every other moment of tech revolution in modern history, technology becomes really successful when it is transparent and invisible to the users (think for example of chatbot and voice control systems).  It must be agile and adapt to a very fluid and changing environment.

For this reason, data is key for any project as well as all the specific technologies that we need to use to manage large amounts of data (for example, cloud storage and data lakes) and ways to extract real value and meaning (e.g., machine learning for pattern identification and behavioural predictions).
