Dare!’s latest series – “The Start-up Series” – explores the start-ups that are a part of Havas’s Accelerator programme and the agencies that work with them. This week, we spoke with Carl Robinson, Founder and CEO at Rumble Studio, and Philippe Huot-Louradour, EU Head of Innovation & Technology at Havas Health & You, to learn more about Rumble Studio.
We’ve also launched a podcast series to explore these start-ups – so check back every edition to hear more!

How did the idea for this start-up originate and what was the process of bringing it to life?

I had the idea to make audio content production faster and easier while recording my own podcast, the Voice Tech Podcast, for which I interview experts in chatbots and voice interfaces. I loved creating my podcast, but it was taking up all my spare time. Creating the podcast episodes was too time consuming, and when I couldn’t find a solution to this problem online, I recognised there was an opportunity to develop a solution using the latest voice technologies and conversational A.I.

In April 2020, I met Joris Guerry, a world-class developer and data scientist, through the Entrepreneur First accelerator. We’ve worked together full-time since then, and have built the world’s first asynchronous audio creation platform for brands and agencies.

Why did you decide to get involved with Havas’s Start-Up Accelerator programme?

Having graduated from our first start-up accelerator, we were looking for a new accelerator that was more focused on helping marketing start-ups like ourselves. We needed to connect with marketers and agencies in order to test and improve our product, and learn how the agency model worked. We were also keen to network with other start-ups in the marketing niche, and continue to be guided by mentors. Havas’s Start-Up Accelerator programme offered all this and more, including office space in the prestigious Station F start-up hub, so it was the obvious choice for us. We were delighted when our application was accepted.

What has your experience been like in this programme so far and how has your business grown?

We have had the opportunity to pitch our podcast creation solution to agencies across the group in Europe and the US, and directly to their global brand clients. These conversations have helped us validate our market, refine our product and define our pricing model. We are now exploring multiple projects to help Havas agencies provide audio content to their clients more efficiently and cost-effectively, and in new and innovative ways.

Millions of podcasts are already available, and they’re still heavily requested by users. What advice would you give to brands that are still “shy” about creating their own podcasts?

You’re not too late. Podcasting and audio content are a nascent content format. The explosion we’ve seen with video content is being replicated in audio, and now is the time to get started. Rumble Studio has developed a quick and easy process for brands to start a podcast, and an easy-to-use tool that makes it simple to create high-quality episodes consistently over the long-term. We are always available to walk you through this process and show you how to release your first episodes in just a few weeks. Contact your Havas agency to schedule a 30-minute discovery call.
