Havas Group India celebrates the launch of its new internship programme, Havas SPARK, which draws 16 participants from a wide range of disciplines and offers them an opportunity to begin their career journey.
Here, Rana Barua, Group CEO, tells Dare! about the six-month programme and why initiatives like this are important for our network.
Tell us about Havas SPARK!
Havas SPARK is a unique internship programme for freshers to help kickstart their careers on the right note. The programme intends to provide bright and talented interns the appropriate educational and career development opportunities through practical application at Havas. It can lead to exciting career prospects as it will make the interns future-ready.
This programme is structured to offer the selected participants a six-month internship involving both formal and on-the-job learning opportunities as they work on exciting and challenging live projects. It also gives them a chance to gain full-time employment at Havas after completion of the programme.
Is the programme open to young people of all disciplines?
The programme will induct about 16 freshers in newer and upcoming fields of media, advertising, data & analytics, digital marketing and e-commerce. The initiative allows Havas Group India to not only tap into young and talented individuals armed with new-age skills and fresh perspectives on business issues, but also discover future business leaders who can go on to make a meaningful difference in the industry.
What is involved in the six-month programme?
In its first year, the programme will induct 16 freshers, who will undergo an intense six-month on-the-job experience, including virtual and classroom sessions, assignments, job rotations, live projects, and a final project submission. The 16 interns will be selected through a rigorous filtering process involving an online aptitude test, a role-specific assignment and personal interviews.
After the successful completion of the programme, the idea is to absorb the maximum number of interns as confirmed employees in the various Havas agencies and disciplines. This entire batch will have individual mentors and will have a senior management team of leaders who will work with the group to ensure consistency, learning and development of skills.
Why are initiatives like this important for Havas Group India and the wider network?
It is important for Havas Group and the network. It establishes our vision of being a meaningful company by doing something proactively in terms of talent scouting by nurturing and mentoring. Integrating young talent into Havas benefits both us and the industry.
Simply saying that as an industry we are not attracting the best talent is easy. The difference we can make as a Group is to take it upon ourselves to go out there and find the right people and give them the required training and opportunity to shine and begin their careers.
